Step 1. Setup your network to listen for unknown computers

A. Who Is On My Wifi works best when it is run from a server computer that is always running. A current network monitoring server or backup server is a recommended place to install Who Is On My Wifi monitoring software.

B. For Initial Setup, turn on all computers on your local network or run this during a time when most computers on your network would be up and running.

C. Click on the Scan Tab and click the Scan Settings Tab.

D. In the Settings Tab. Set the IP Range for your network. IP Ranges can be given in the format 192.168.1-2.1-254.
If you are unsure of what these settings are, please contact your IT or Server Administrator.

E. For now, leave everything else at their defaults and click the SAVE button at the bottom of the screen.

F. Still on the Scan Tab. Click on the Scan Now Button. Scan Now will scan your network and show you every computer that is on the network.

By default, all computers are UNKNOWN computers, so you will be notified by a Message Balloon that on this first scan there are UNKNOWN computers on your network.

G. Now that Who Is On My Wifi is aware of the computers on your network, you need to tell it whether or not these are KNOWN computers or not so it can know to ignore them in the future.
It would be a good idea to have someone verify that all of these computers are actually computers that should be on your network, and if not investigate them.
But, for this example, lets say that all computers currently on your network should be there. We want Who Is On My Wifi to ignore them in the future so it doesn't contact you about Known Computers.

So, you simply need to Click on the Known/Unknown Column and change them to Known.

After you've changed all of the Unknown Computers to Known, Click on the Save Changes Button.

This commits all of your changes to the Who Is On My Wifi database so that it can remember them correctly.

H. Now that we only have KNOWN Computers on the network, lets scan the network again and see what happens. So, click on the Scan Now Button again. This time, you'll notice that there was not a Message Balloon notifying you of Unknown computers.
If you see the same computers as UNKNOWN again, be sure to click on the SAVE CHANGES button after you change them again and then try the Scan Again.

I. You're network is now setup to detect any new or Unknown computers that join the network.
If you click on the Status Tab, you will notice that Who Is On My Wifi is setup to scan your network every 5 minutes by default. The Status Tab also gives you an overview of how many Known and Unknown Computers are on your network as well as showing you a log of what has occurred since Who Is On My Wifi was started.

J. To Close Out of Who Is On My Wifi, You need to Exit it from the System Tray. You can right click on the System Tray Icon, and click on Exit. This will shutdown Who Is On My Wifi until you restart your computer.

Step 2. Let it run.

A. Who Is On My Wifi should now be configured to scan your network every (5) minutes or so based on the Scan Settings. It can alert you through Popups, Audio Notification, and E-mail Notification. Simply change these settings on the Setup/Scan Settings page and Test the Notification method that you prefer.

Step 3. Registration

A. After running Who Is On My Wifi on your network for a few days, you will notice how powerful this technology is for your organization. If after 30 days of usage, you decide that you would like to keep protecting your network, simply go to http://www.whoisonmywifi.com and purchase a Registration Key.

B. After purchasing a Registration Key, click on the Setup Screen/ Registration link and enter the code that you received from us. Because of the cryptographic complexity of the code, it is usually best to copy and paste the code from the email you receive directly into the Registration box to avoid errors in entering the key.
